Brighton Festival 2012

An arts, theatre and film festival in the heart of Sussex: Brighton. This picture is from a play called Interiors which I am eagerly anticipating to watch… will try and score some free tickets if I write a review for the Badger or any other magazine who would give me the job. Otherwise the tickets are reasonably priced, the cheapest being £10.

The festival will be between the 5-27th of May.

Tennis Review: Young & Old

Little by Listen

Young & Old

Yesterday, Wes discussed the duo of indie rockers Sleigh Bells releasing their sophomore album, Reign of Terror. Well, last Tuesday (notable for being Valentine’s Day) another indie duo and a married couple, known as Tennis, also released their own sophomore effort, Young & Old. The lo-fi somewhat-surf-rockers did well last year, releasing their debut album Cape Dory on the notably awesome indie label Fat Possum Records. The album was subtle, but great, and received fairly positive reviews, but was still a bit underrated IMHO. Something tells me that this album on the whole will be received in a fairly similar fashion.

Music Blogs… why doesn’t anyone use them?

Music blogs are amazing, I mean they make Radio 1 look last century and completely out of date. I need a Dollar by Aloe Blacc was out on the blog-o-sphere two summers before it made it to the late night shows. The same can be said about the lights of the Vaccines and The Pretty Reckless.

I know there’s Spotify and Zune; iTunes with their ‘genius’ playlist app but if there is a time when you just want to open up a browser and listen to something completely different then a great website to stumble upon. It will come up with a playlist based on an artist that you have searched for, so you’ll probably find something completely new that you will like before anyone you know has heard of it. Trend setting or what?!

If you want to download some of the music you hear on the site, it is normally on which you can log on to with your Facebook account.

Lastly for the lazy bastards who can not be bothered to troll through actual blogs there is that automatically goes through all the blogs registered to the site and prioritizes music according to what you are looking for. It does not do the automatic playlist thing that Indie Shuffle does but it is great to find some new music 🙂

A bit of Adele and Daft Punk are normally associated with different moods but not once have I thought it would work so well together! To sample Carlos Serrano’s remix just click play on the embedded player below.
